HISTORY
"Chimo" was originally founded in 1970, and marked the beginning of a new era of solidarity for women in the travel industry. "Chimo", an Inuit word meaning "Friendship and Hospitality", was formed to bring together women in the Travel Industry, to foster the spirit of fellowship and to encourage communication through friendship and goodwill.
In 1983, the name was changed to Chimo Club Toronto, and our objects expanded to improve the status and to promote the interest of women in the Travel and Travel-related industries. Professional and personal development is promoted through interaction, fellowship and education.
Chimo Club Toronto is a non-profit organization which adopts and supports at least one charity per year. These charities have included: Interval House, The Canadian Liver Foundation, the Brian Barr Fund, the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, Covenant House, Alzheimer Association, Arthritis Society and the Toronto Food Bank.
Chimo Club Toronto received the honour of hosting the 25th Anniversary IFTWO International Convention in April 1994.
